Our Sunday morning worship gathering is designed to be relaxed, comfortable, inspiring, and intimate. We want Encounter Church to feel both fresh and familiar to you. Here is an idea of what you can expect:
We believe the most effective way to connect with people and grow in faith is to do it where we're most comfortable. Instead of focusing on highly programmed large group gatherings, we put the priority on relationships, conversations, and family in smaller more intimate settings: house churches. Each house church has its own flavor, but is just one part of the larger Encounter Church family spread across the city. Together, house churches worship, study scripture, eat, pray, and serve our city. Being a part of a house church means you'll have the opportunity to be deeply involved in the lives of other people at Encounter.
Since we're located in residential neighborhoods you can park wherever you can find a spot, but please be respectful of our neighbors and do not block driveways. Sometimes you may need to park a street or two away depending on how busy the neighborhood is that day.
Our weekly house church services are designed to be both intimate and relaxed. Since we meet in homes, you'll get to sit on couches and chairs in the living room like you are at a friend's house. Each week, we study scripture, worship and pray together, discuss what it means for our lives, and then have lunch together. If you're new to faith or church in general, this is a perfect place for you to explore at your own pace.
Encounter is blessed with talented musicians who love to worship Jesus and serve his church through modern music as well as fresh takes on classic hymns. Our style of music tends to gravitate to an acoustic coffee house vibe. More than the style of music, our worship is part of the way in which we prepare our hearts and minds to hear the word of God and respond to that word.
Teaching is an important focus of our services and lasts around 15-20 minutes. Every week, you can expect a Bible-based message that will encourage, challenge, and empower you as you seek Jesus and grow throughout the week.
Once our gathering has ended please feel free to stay and mingle. We believe the church is a place to belong, and we would love to get to know you and your family. You’ll find plenty of friendly people who would love to chat. Immediately after service, we eat lunch together (either in the house or out at a local restaurant). This is also a great time to connect with a leader to answer any questions you might have and to pick up your visitor gift.
